Overlook represents a complete overhaul of a dilapidated garrison-style colonial located within a residential neighborhood. The surrounding streets are filled with homes that resembled the existing developer-style home from the 1960’s which presented the challenge of reinvigorating the home without compromising the context and setting of adjacent properties. A strict budget allowed us to limit our interventions to strategic interventions centered around reconfiguring window openings, a refreshed exterior, slight modifications in floor plans, and ultimately, absorbing the garage footprint into the living space of the home. A reconstructed and enlarged screen-porch at the rear of the house is paired with a tiered rear deck across the entire elevation to expand the interior living spaces into the outdoors. New interior finishes throughout the home and a reconfigured kitchen create efficient and functional spaces with luxurious natural light and an organic flow for a refined and relaxed atmosphere.
